Prof: Aberle / Spring 2026

May 7, 2026

Comments on the course

Take this course w/ Aberle if possible. It is quite brutal, but is important for virtually all EE fields (to have some idea of the electromagnetic effects happening within basically any modern system). Aberle makes this course much more approachable with enhancement exam opportunities offered after each exam (averages your score between the two). He is extremely responsive by email as well and knows virtually everything about the field. Homeworks are not graded so they are technically optional, but you should at least solve several problems from each homework set to get a strong understanding before taking the quizzes/exams. You have infinite attempts to solve the quizzes as well (until the deadline).

Course Content

All this EMAG related: EM wave propagation, transmission lines, waveguides/cavities, antennas (and more).

Comments on the professor

The GOAT of Electromagnetics at ASU (by far one of the best professors I have ever had).

Advice

Use MATLAB to solve the quizzes since Aberle allows you to use it on the exams! (This helped trivialize A LOT of very hard problems and saved me multiple times on the exams).
