This course is ideal if you are interested in sociological perspective of education such as educational inequality, role of teachers, alternative and comparative schooling, restorative education, issues of mass postsecondary education etc. I highly recommend this course if you want to pursue teaching careers in the future.
There was no textbook needed to purchase. They were all PDF formats online but you have to read them through and watch the lecture videos. Lot of concepts but still manageable. But note that the professor tests more on the reading contents than lecture contents if the course is online. The exam question was not extremely difficult as long as you studied because you can tell what the answer is by looking at some questions and comparing/contrasting the options. They were all multiple choice questions.
The professor is very nice and you can see she loves teaching this course or just teaching in general. She is disorganized sometimes but because she has to manage approximately a 400 students classroom by herself without any TAs. I'd recommend to network with her if you want to be a teacher because the professor also teaches in high school.
