Comments on the course

Pretty straightforward and easy course if you have any math ability at all. Took it online so tests were open book and open-R (stats software). Great prof and one of the better online courses despite not being all that interesting.

Advice

Do the homework and you'll do well.

Comments on the course

[Taken online] OVERALL STAT 260 is a great course. If I had to describe it in one word -- concise. Chi taught you the material quickly and without any unneeded busy work. He knew where students made mistakes, and spent extra time clarifying these sections. WORKLOAD - 10 Weekly quizzes (20-30 minutes each (only Chi does this I believe)) - 3 online R assignments (will take most people around an hour each) - 3 redo-able online assignments (each one took me ~30-90 minutes, but might take you less) - Final exam was given as option between a longer final quiz, or a short take-home final. Not heavily weighted (~10% for either option, not cumulative). Overall, I felt this class had a slightly below average workload. There were only a few assignments, all of which could be completed quickly. M...read more

Advice

Don't be discouraged if you don't understand everything in lecture. This stuff comes very quickly once you get a little practice. Before the weekly quizzes, spend a little time taking your own notes of the "notes package" Chi uses. Make sure to understand each example he covered in class. Then, do some of the practice quizzes Chi provides until you are answering most/all the questions right. If you can do these 2-3 hours (or less) of studying each week, this course should be no problem at all.
