Comments on the course

Pretty easy to keep up with. I didn't attend a majority of the lectures and I was still able to understand the material through the notes that Michelle uploads through Brightspace.

Course Content

The content is pretty interesting. There's lots of formulas to memorize, though they're all pretty easy to remember. Michelle gave us a lecture notes package so that we could follow along more easily during class as well as a supplement textbook that has practice questions for each unit (with answers), outlines for the R Assignments, and practice tests for the in-term tests + the final exam. The material is simple, yet detailed enought to gain a good understanding of the basics of stats, which is a useful tool to have for any program, really.

Comments on the professor

Michelle is a really good prof. for students who prefer a slower pace during lectures. It's nice that she goes over the material in detail (as well as many, many examples) and she always makes sure to leave some time during lectures for students to ask questions (unlike some other profs who like to cram so much material into a 50 minute class and leave you confused and overwhelmed). For myself, personally, Michelle's speed is slightly slow, hense why I didn't attend lectures, but if you're an individual who gets sick often or has terrible allergies during the summer (like me), then the online notes are a lifesaver (that is, if she decides to post them that semester).

Advice

I kind of wish I took a higher level stats course, such as STAT 260 or 254 (require CALC l and ll, I believe). If you're a bio or chem student, for example, and you're unsure about staying in your program, then definitely take the higher stats so that you have more options and don't risk redoing a stats course if you plan on trasnfering into, let's say, engineering. The same goes for any other STEM course in your program outline.

Comments on the professor

Michelle is great, she explains the material very well. She is a bit slow in returning marks for the weekly assignments.
