assignments Essay on The Wars Essay on Indian Horse or a text from the canadianlit textbook pitch for an author in the CanadianLit textbook - short assignment final exam -- take home, short and long answer Qs on passages from readings. Essay portion was a reflection on the course, 10 days to complete

Course Content

Found it interesting to read stories based in our country. Really puts the development of Canada into perspective in terms of people and land. We read poetry and short stories from the textbook in order and I loved seeing the change in ideas/concerns/social issues. books The Wars - Findley Indian Horse - Wagamese that super annoyingly expensive and hefty canlit textbook that you lug around just to read three pages in class

Comments on the professor

Jamie dopp is a great prof. If you care, he cares. He's big on titles so give that extra thought. He's an ideas man and gives a lot of freedom with his papers. He also wears funky scarves & offers a zoom link to class for those who can't attend.

Advice

It's a sample course so not as much time for deep dive discussions. I read my books before sem starts and that completely changes the 'difficulty level' of a course IMO. If you are also an english student with 1000 books and several weekly readings, try to get all the novels done before school starts so you can actually enjoy class and make more connections during lectures.
