Comments on the course

Relatively easy class with a great, experienced, and relaxing professor. Expectations are clear, the content is memorable and interesting, and it will fulfill your CC while teaching you something about the world. Attendance is mandatory (graded) and you will want to show up to do well on quizzes anyway.

Course Content

Reviews Asian religions - Confucianism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Hinduism. Includes a mandatory temple visit of your choice. 5 quizzes, 2 essays, 1 midterm, 1 final, and extra credit opportunities. Good amount of reading, not completely unmanageable and he doesn't get too offended if you miss some reading by the end of the semester due to workloads increasing.

Comments on the professor

An excellent, fair professor. He is reasonable and understanding without being too lax. Lectures the entire time, but the lectures are interesting. Lindquist is an experienced and knowledgeable professor, the head of the Asian Studies department, and knows his stuff. Will also readily admit when he doesn't know something (don't ask about Western religions lol).

Advice

Take notes in class, as quizzes are on lecture material. Work hard on the essays as he is a tough grader on those. Plan to set aside a good chunk of time before the tests to complete the study guide; he doesn't test if it isn't on the guide, but anything on it is fair game so get the thing done.
