Prof: Ann Grens / Fall 2021
Aug 25, 2022
It’s a super hard class; there are no textbooks, no defined lecture notes (she explains everything in class and is subject to changing slides depending on how lecture goes), or no test study guides. You truly have to show up, listen and take notes, and figure out how to practically apply the information. You could take this course somewhere else and transfer the credit to avoid taking it, but considering that Dr. Grens teaches a decent amount of the Biology courses, especially the ones you need molecular as a pre-rec, it’s so much better to take it with her. She created this course at the IUSB campus and many other classes are modeled around it.
Dr. Grens is a difficult professor to navigate, but she truly does know her material. She is passionate about the classes she teaches, so sometimes she may overload you with random information or go off on tangents. She is very detail oriented as well, keep that in mind when it comes to testing with her!
1) Dr. Grens literally cares about your well-being (mental and physical) so utilize her office hours or email her if you need to - she will be as accommodating as possible as long as she knows! 2) Ask questions during lecture 3) study groups are great, SI students are great, just honestly anyone who processes differently than you is a helpful study buddy
